Aaahh time slow down!!! My youngest started Kindergarten this week. While the moment was filled with bittersweet emotions, I can't help but feel how fast this life truly does fly by.
Baby number 2 (as my husband likes to number them) started her new school year at an amazing Montessori school, and baby number 3 gets to go to a nanny two days a week. Three kids in three different locations. I know in 10 years I'm going to look back and think, I have no idea how I handled three kids under 4 and starting my own business!
Therefore, back to school this year has a new meaning for us. We have now entered a different phase in our life. One is leaving preschool. My husband sees the extra dollar signs in place from the outrageous cost of prep preschool. I however see my little boy growing up, walking to school, making new friends of various ages, learning to take his lunch to school (his mommy adjusting to making his lunch for school), dropping that mid-day nap, learning the meaning of a school library, new social experiences, learning how to hold a pencil correctly, and becoming more independent!
For us it means, we just surpassed a major milestone. You only get one first day of school experience. It also means trying to scramble to fill a summer's time with camps, playdates, and activities. Our vacations now have to be planned around the school calendar breaks, compared to just going and traveling whenever we pleased.
This life just got so much more complicated, but so much more enjoyable. The experience of "firsts" is just beginning and while I would like to freeze time and keep my babes little forever, there is also a rich excitement about seeing them grow, learn, and experience all of the things that I did finding my way through life.
